A university dedicated to cultivating key talents for the future global bio-health industry

This is CHA University

CHA University President Wontae Cha

I am pleased to address you today from CHA University, an institution dedicated to cultivating key talents for the future global bio-health industry.

CHA University was founded with the philosophy of creating a new paradigm in the medical industry by integrating biomedical research and medical education, and with a mission to bring health and hope to humanity. Starting with an initial intake of 40 students in our School of Medicine, we have grown into a prestigious private comprehensive university, now educating 3,700 students across six undergraduate colleges, 11 departments, and nine graduate schools, including a Graduate School of Medicine.

Our society is venturing into uncharted territories, unprecedented in human experience, propelled by the rapid advances in information technology and artificial intelligence based on big data. As the President of this university, I am committed to nurturing core talents for the future global bio-health industry and would like to outline our vision as follows:

First, we aim to play a leading role in generating synergies through the CHA Hospital and Bio Group network, an industry-academia-research-hospital system, by facilitating organic collaboration among university professors, clinical faculty in our hospitals, and R&D leaders in businesses and research institutions.

Second, to allow our faculty and students to devote themselves to research and academics under better conditions, we will strategically invest in operational funds over seven years. We plan to move beyond a tuition-dependent financial model by increasing government financial aid and securing development funds to create a healthy and flexible financial base for an ideal educational environment.

Third, we are committed to enhancing our international competitiveness and establishing ourselves as a global university. With the belief that our stage is the five oceans and six continents, we are strengthening foreign language education and actively promoting substantial exchanges with overseas universities. Utilizing the international network of CHA Hospital and Bio Group, which includes 91 centers in seven countries with 1,800 medical professionals and 14,000 staff members, we will expand the intellectual and experiential horizons of our faculty and students.

None of these promises can be achieved by my efforts alone. I am committed to building a progressive university with the collaborative efforts of our faculty, staff, students, and alumni. Despite the numerous challenges ahead, we will seek hope together, drawing inspiration from the DNA of success found in our CHA Hospital and Bio Group, characterized by change, challenge, and achievement.

We ask for your continued interest and support in the transformation and progress of CHA University.

Thank you.
