Selection of students scheduled to complete teaching courses

1. Submission of application for completion of teaching course

Students wishing to complete a teaching course must submit an application for completing a teaching course to the Department of Education within the designated deadline at the end of the first semester.

2. Selection criteria and period for those scheduled to complete teaching courses
  • Among the students who submitted the application for completion of the teaching course at the end of the second semester of the first year, those who are approved for the establishment of the teaching department are selected in order of grades, taking into account the results of the completion of school and teaching aptitude test results.
  • In accordance with Article 15 of the Enforcement Rules of the Teacher Qualification Examination, those scheduled to complete the teacher training course must be selected from among the second year students. However, due to difficulties in operating the Department of Nursing, which is the only department in our university with a teaching training course, selection is made during the winter vacation of the first year.
3. Number of selected people

Those scheduled to complete the teacher training course are selected within the scope of the approved number of majors (departments) for which the teacher training course is established by the Ministry of Education.

4. Selection method details
  • After notification of the teaching department and department, submit the application for completion of the teaching course to the teaching department.
  • In principle, interviews are conducted for all applicants. However, if the number of applicants exceeds twice the number approved, interviews are conducted only with double the number of applicants in the order of grades listed in the school register.
  • Selection is based on the total score of 50% of grades from the previous semester as of the date of application and 50% of teacher interview scores.
  • If applicants have the same total score, they will be selected in order of points earned and grades from the most recent semester.
5. In-depth interview

Interview score (100 points) = teaching aptitude (50 points) + understanding of education and the teaching profession (50 points)

  • ‘Teaching aptitude’ refers to motivation for application, sense of self and values, and attitude toward the teaching profession.
  • The degree of understanding of education refers to knowledge about education or the teaching profession, interest in educational issues, and the ability to develop logical thinking about problems.
6. Precautions
  • In order to obtain a teaching certificate after completing the teaching course, the average grade in all subjects and teaching subjects in the relevant major (department) must be 75 points or higher.
  • Foreigners can apply to complete a teaching position, but since they do not have the right to hold public office, possession of a certificate is not relevant to being appointed as a teacher.
  • Public health teachers (level 2) must obtain a nurse certificate to be issued a teaching certificate.
